Theodore Roosevelt on Immigration
The year is 1907, one hundred years ago......

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation, under God."
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival."
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You bow your head when someone prays.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You treat Vietnam vets and all our military with great respect, and always have.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never burned an American flag.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.
You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

You CAN Make a Difference
Americans: Someone sent me this email recently and it looks like a grassroots movement is afoot. Can't think of a better way to celebrate our Independence Day:
June 4th to July 4th
Are we Americans as dumb as we appear or is it that we just do not think?
While the Chinese, knowingly export inferior products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets, we continue to be their biggest market, at the expense of American industry. Yet 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Well, why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? DO IT YOURSELF!!
Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says "Made in China" or "PRC" (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, however you will be equally amazed at what you
can do without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example, the point is.. do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own. If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!! The downside? Some American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles
of inventory. "Downside??"
The solution ?
Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. We will not implement this UNTIL June 4, and we will only continue it until July 4. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.
Remember, June 4 to July 4. Send this to everybody you know. Show them we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!
Pass it on America !!!

Memorial Day 2008; Honoring our Fallen Heroes

Posted at 11:04AM May 22, 2008 by Perry (Editor@USAB2C.com) in U.S.A. Traditions | Comments[0]
This Memorial Day Don't Forget Their Sacrifices
A U.S. Navy Corpsman serving with Marines, wrote a wonderful poem and it is re-copied here for you. It is titled
"Bury me Next to a Marine"
Bury me next to a Marine, When my time has come to an end, So I can spend eternity, Beside my brother and friend I've served beside them for years And they've inspired me every day. They've never asked for anything, So a debt I can never repay. None of them served for glory, None for money or fame. But they've served in every clime and place, Heroes with but one name. No one will ever outdo them, Their honor is never outdone. They will all go down in history, As America's favorite sons. Marines will never fail you, And their guard will never cease. Please bury me next to a Marine, So I may rest in peace. HM2(FMF) Robert L. Owens August 31, 2007

Embrace Celebratory Spring Brunches With Cost-Effective Entertaining Tips
|
|
|
|
(NAPSI)-April showers bring more than May flowers; spring months welcome an array of special occasions to celebrate. Brunch gatherings in honor of Mother's Day, graduations or showers present a flavorful way to bring family and friends together in a cozy setting. While hosting a large-scale brunch can be costly, there are simple ways to save at the register and still impress your guests: • Revert to the vintage style and appeal of a custom-made punch. Forego purchasing several types of beverages, which can add to the bottom line of your bill, and instead opt for two or three containers of 100 percent fruit juice, combined with slices of mixed fruit. Serve in a family heirloom punch bowl to add a sentimental element to your special occasion. • Casseroles offer an affordable and delicious way to satisfy your guests' hunger. Save time and money by preparing one or two large dishes in place of many small items and sides. Hearty egg or noodle dishes are traditional brunch favorites and require few ingredients. • Look in the frozen food aisle for a variety of high-quality food and beverage options that pack the same nutritional punch at a fraction of the cost, such as 100 percent frozen concentrated Florida orange juice. • Ask family and friends to each bring a delicious dish to share. You'll save on time spent in the kitchen, as well as on expenses, while benefiting from a variety of cooking styles. Spring-inspired recipes, such as a festive punch, can add a splash of nutrition and brighten the flavor of your next special-occasion brunch. "It's easy to prepare mouth-watering recipes that offer both health and cost-saving benefits," says Gail Rampersaud MS, RD, of the University of Florida. "Orange juice is extremely versatile beyond the breakfast table and enhances the health benefits of dishes. On a budget, frozen concentrated orange juice provides the same fresh taste as ready-to-drink orange juice and helps consumers meet almost 25 percent of their USDA daily recommended servings of fruit and vegetables." Mint Orange Agave Cooler Punch Makes 2 gallons or 24 (8-ounce) servings 1 cup loosely packed mint leaves, roughly chopped 8 cups ice 4 (12-ounce) containers frozen concentrated orange juice 5 quarts water 3 cups fresh lime juice 3 cups agave nectar Place mint leaves in the bottom of a punch bowl. With the back of a spoon, bruise mint to break up slightly to release flavor. Add ice. Combine thawed frozen concentrated orange juice with 3 quarts of water. Add fresh lime juice, agave nectar and remaining water; stir well. * Agave nectar is a naturally occurring sweetener that has a lower glycemic index value than other sweeteners. It is available at supermarkets and natural foods stores. |

A Blessed Easter to All
All best wishes to our readers for Easter blessings. Here's an inspiring message:
|
Finding Faith Daily by Dr. Paul Irwin |
|
|
(NAPSI)-I remember a time when messages of faith truly came alive for me. It was a snowy Sunday and I realized that many would not be able to make it to church because of the weather. As I walked up to the church entrance, I passed the Easter lilies that had been so carefully placed along the sidewalk. They were shrouded in snow, with the flowers thrusting through a mantle of white into the morning air. And the thought dawned on me that the lilies were rising out of the snow and showing beauty and vigor in spite of their circumstances. They proclaimed a clear message that all of us, in spite of our problems, pain and difficulties, can raise the triumphant shout of Easter throughout the year: Christ is Risen! Faith is all about the proclamation of the eternal presence of the living Christ, the daily experience of a living hope. And, like on Easter, any day can offer a restart for all Christians and a time when we are ready for something new in our lives. On that snowy day, the lilies were a profound symbol of resurrection for me. Like them, because of our risen Lord, we can bloom wherever we are. Happy St. Patrick's Day
|
|
|
|
(NAPSI)-St. Patrick's Day is considered the national holiday in Ireland--but the first parade to mark the day was held in the U.S. The parade took place in Boston in 1737. Since then, cities across the country have joined the fun, with Chicago largely credited for holding the largest St. Patrick's Day parade with over 2 million spectators. Whether you're Irish or just feel like you are on St. Patrick's Day, there are plenty of ways to celebrate on March 17. You can try cooking up some authentic corned beef and cabbage (keep that dinner warm on your buffet table in one of USAB2C's Broilking servers: http://www.usab2c.com/product/AB2C_KITCHENAPPLIANCES_COUNTERTOP/BRO_NBS-3SPB), listening to Irish music or attending a St. Patrick's Day party. |

Spreading the Word
(NAPSI)-The Bible plays a vital role in a number of African American communities--but many may not know the story of how word of the Good Book was spread.
It's the story of African Americans working together to spread spirituality and literacy skills, and of a little-known group of dedicated men and women called colporteurs who helped countless people connect.
The term "colporteur" refers to those who travel to sell or distribute Bibles and religious writings. In 1900, a group of African American colporteurs was commissioned as home missionaries in the South. The door-to-door standard method of distribution, enriched by the cooperation of black churches, played a significant role in furnishing the Scriptures to urban blacks.
The group was commissioned by the American Bible Society, after it launched the "Agency Among the Colored People of the South," an organization devoted solely to the distribution of the Bible among Southern African Americans. The agency was created in response to the Supreme Court's "separate but equal" decision and the uneven Bible distribution in the Southern states.
Most people received the colporteurs warmly, gathered their families together and requested them to read selections aloud. A colporteur's arrival was a special event, which helped overcome feelings of separation and isolation for rural families. In the cities, colporteurs found established African American neighborhoods with thriving local institutions. The local African American church usually provided a focal point for introducing and carrying out the work of the Bible Society.
The work of the colporteurs eventually led the Bible Society to reconsider its approach to sharing God's Word with the world. The group moved to banish discrimination and any aspects of its operation that bore "any semblance to segregation."
To this day, the Bible Society works to keep its commitment to building strong relationships with America's African American communities in carrying out the mission of sharing the good news.
A group of African Americans called colporteurs helped spread the Bible and literacy in the South.
