American Made Pet Urns - Shadowcasts
HersheyCrosses the Rainbow Bridge
You could say we began on July 9, 1987,
when Hershey, our Chocolate Labrador Retriever was born, but that might be jumping the gun a bit. We were lucky enough to share the unconditional love and companionship of our wonderful dog for nearly fifteen years. In many ways he was our first child, and he was definitely the best behaved!
But on May 15th, 2002, our hearts were broken when our beloved Hershey crossed the “Rainbow Bridge.” We chose the option of pet cremation because we wanted to keep Hershey home where he belonged, but we were left unfulfilled and grieving when we received the small cedar box that contained his ashes. Hershey was a part of our family and deserved much better. Something had to be done.
Well, as luck would have it, when Hershey was just a pup, we purchased a tabletop sculpture of a Chocolate Lab to accent our family room. That sculpture happened to be the approximate size of the wooden box that contained our pal, so we took the sculpture from its mantle perch and fashioned it into an urn to safeguard the ashes of our special child. Hershey now “lives” in our hearts and our home as he's lovingly and respectfully displayed in our family room, not as a box, but as our wonderful Chocolate Lab. The healing and closure we experienced from Hershey's new memorial was truly therapeutic. Many family and friends were so touched by the idea, that they requested similar pet memorials, eventually inspiring the creation of ShadowCasts.
ShadowCasts is a small California company born from the heartbreak of losing our special pet. We make functional, tabletop, breed specific cat and dog sculptures of the highest quality. Each is hand cast and hand finished right here in the United States. They are statuary intended for pet lovers to use as home or office, décor to honor or display their favorite breeds; either living or deceased. We at ShadowCasts understand that pet death is inevitable, and though vase-like urns and wooden boxes dominate the pet cremation industry, we want to give pet owners a more desirable option. We want everyone to share in the feelings of remembrance we experienced with Hershey…but without the work. So we make our sculptures with a removable base that allows them to easily function as uniquely personal pet cremation urns. They are quite literally sculptures that can be used as urns, so we call them sculpturns®.
