How important is the brand name of a product? Would you sacrifice quality for name?

Yes, it is very important to me what brand im wearing

Typically, Brand Name can bring a level of prestige like owning a set of Mac tools.
But you can find other great lesser know brands like Armstrong tools, S-K, and Klien.

Even though you can find other great lesser known brands many people are influenced on the brand of a product, and this is shown when they pay more for the name. This happens everyday.

Brand name is important to me but the heartache is that many of the products I have grown up with are no longer made in the US such as: Porter Cable Power tools, Thermos Bottles, TV's to name a few.

We hear you and concur wholeheartedly. That's why we at USAB2C are trying to make a difference. With fellow patriots like you, we will!

Brand names are not as important to me as they used to be. now, even designer products are often mass produced in china on the same machines as the cheap stuff so why should i give them my money? the only exception to this is in electronics where i expect a better product from the better know brand names.

Historically, a company's name was king and they would never put out a poor product that might tarnish that name.

In recent years, many top executives no longer have technical backgrounds but MBA degrees only interested in the next quarter's profit margin.

I believe this is the single most important reason quality has been sacrificed over short term profits.

Very important but I suspect some of the brand names are forged !

It us to count but now we need to see it that company has be bought out - Does Budwieser come to mind.

Brand names are becoming less and and less important. If a a no name generic brand is just as good and cheaper (and American of course!) that someitmes works for me. I find the foreign made products are sometimes very cheaply made. You get what you pay for!

Brand names are very important in the buying decision, but I agree with most here that many of the stalwart brands have sold out for cheaper parts and the "Made to Break" philosophy. But now their brand name is crap, or should be.

Made in the USA
